Blimy.
That was very interesting indeed reading all the previous posts (not had a pooter for a while).

Last year was a bit of a nightmare for me and my training (or lack thereof). What with being absent for months-on-end due to injury, illness and 12 hour shifts at work. By the time I resumed training, I was 3 stone heavier and struggling.

As for my performance at the last grading? Well I wasn’t happy either. What with my general lack of stamina being made worse due to the chest infection I was suffering.

Still, (hopefully) all that’s behind me now, as I aim to improve my weight, fitness, stamina and attendance (work permitting) through these coming months. So that I can hopefully do justice to my next grading, and the instructors that invest there time and effort in me.

Great course at the weekend!

Was it me ....or did Mike say next one would be a mock grading!!

Those of you that are up for this need to be getting your heads around essays.

You also need to be thinking about who is going to sigh your grading form.

If you haven't been to my classes for instance I won't sign your form.

If you haven't been to Mikes classes he may not sign your form either.

For a Templegate student just doing the dan preps isn't really enough when the opportunity to train in dan grade classes exists on tuesdays and wednesdays.

Ideally you should be doing both.

So if you've been slacking in your attendance....now is the time to remedy that!

Cheers

well ...not a mock grading but a very good weekend nevertheless.

Interesting continuation of Mikes adapted foot position from gyaku hanmi related to weapons, also interesting to think about the way we've blindly done yokomen with bokken for years in response to a tap when really that tap would have been more likely tsuki.

Personally I really liked being encouraged to seriously go for my uke...as if I need any encouragement! :D

Nice feeling in the lats today...!

Thought I'd give this thread a stir so this years prospective dan grades think a little about essays....

they'll need to be in well before dan grade in august.
